“Dual audio output” on a TV means you can send sound to two devices at once (e.g. TV speakers + headphones, or TV speakers + Bluetooth speakers). Not all TVs support this, so you need to check your model’s settings and manual.
1. Quick Menu Check by Brand
Samsung TVs
-
Press Home on your remote.
-
Go to Settings → All Settings.
-
Select Sound → Sound Output.
-
Look for:
-
Simultaneous Optical Output
-
Multi-Output Audio / Multi-Output
-
If you see Multi-Output Audio, enable it to use both TV speakers and Bluetooth devices at the same time. If you don’t see these options, your model likely doesn’t support dual audio output.
LG TVs
-
Press Settings (gear icon) on your remote.
-
Go to Sound (or Sound & Picture) → Sound Output.
-
Look for:
-
Simultaneous Sound Out
-
Options like:
-
Optical Out Device + TV Speaker
-
Bluetooth Device + TV Speaker
-
-
If these options exist, your LG TV supports dual audio. If you only see single outputs (e.g. “TV Speaker”, “Optical”, “Bluetooth” only), simultaneous output is probably not supported.
Sony TVs
-
Press Quick Settings or Home.
-
Go to Settings → Display & Sound (or Display & Sound) → Audio output.
-
Look for:
-
Dual Audio Output
-
Audio to both TV speakers and other device
-
Some Sony models also use:
-
Headphone speaker link → set to Off to allow headphone jack + speakers together (non-A2DP models).
If you don’t see these, your Sony TV probably doesn’t support dual audio.
Google TV / Android TV (including some Sony models)
-
Open Settings.
-
Go to Display & Sound → Audio output.
-
Look for:
-
Audio to both TV speakers and other device
-
If this option is missing, simultaneous output is likely not supported on that model.
2. Check the Manual or Online Specs
If you can’t find the right menu:
-
Search your TV model number on the manufacturer’s website (e.g. “Samsung UE55CU8000 dual audio output”).
-
Look for:
-
“Simultaneous audio output”
-
“Multi-Output Audio”
-
“Dual Audio Output”
-
“Output audio to both TV speakers and external device”
-
-
If the manual or specs don’t mention these, support is unlikely.
3. Practical Test (If You Have a Device)
If you suspect your TV might support it:
-
Connect a Bluetooth headphone or optical device.
-
In the Sound Output menu:
-
Try selecting TV Speaker + Bluetooth or TV Speaker + Optical.
-
-
If you can:
-
Set both outputs at once, and
-
Hear sound from both simultaneously,
then your TV supports dual audio.
-
If the TV only lets you choose one output at a time (TV Speaker, Bluetooth, Optical, etc.), it does not support dual audio.
4. If Your TV Doesn’t Support It
If your TV lacks dual audio output:
-
Use a Bluetooth transmitter with multi-device support (many allow 2 headphones at once).
-
For hearing aids or assistive listening, look for dedicated TV listening systems that connect via optical or analogue and can feed multiple receivers.
By checking the right sound output menus and your model’s manual, you can confirm whether your TV supports dual audio output and avoid compatibility issues with headphones, speakers, or assistive devices.
